A 60-second private self-check using the validated urine-color scale, plus a few quick questions. Get a band, never a fake precise score.

A self-check, not medical advice. Color is also affected by food, vitamins (B2) and medication. Your answers are evaluated in your browser and never stored or sent.

What color best matches your urine right now?

Frequently asked

Is urine color a reliable hydration test?

It is a reasonable low-cost self-check, not a lab test. Research shows urine color tracks changes in body water about as well as urine osmolality or specific gravity in controlled studies, which is why it became the basis for the standard 8-point urine color chart. It is not as precise as a blood or lab urine test, and a single reading can be thrown off by diet, supplements, and medication.

What if I take vitamins?

Riboflavin (vitamin B2), common in multivitamins and B-complex supplements, turns urine bright yellow regardless of how hydrated you are. If you take a vitamin like that, treat a yellow reading with more caution and lean on the context questions (thirst, time since you last went, heat or exercise) as well.

Why does the quiz ask about thirst and exercise, not just color?

Color alone can lag behind your real hydration status, especially right after hard exercise or heat exposure. The follow-up questions catch some of the cases color misses. They only shift the result by one tier, and a great color (a pale 1 or 2) never drops straight to borderline on a single signal, it lands in an intermediate keep-an-eye-out result instead.

How does the quiz decide my result?

Your color pick is the primary signal, on the validated Armstrong 8-point scale: 1 to 2 is well hydrated, 3 is good but at the edge, 4 to 6 is borderline, and 7 to 8 is under-hydrated. The three questions (thirst, time since you last urinated, heat or exercise) can nudge that by one tier. The result is always a band, never a fake precise score.

Is this a medical diagnosis?

No. This is a self-check for personal awareness, not medical advice or a diagnosis. It runs entirely in your browser and nothing you answer is stored or sent anywhere. If you feel unwell or have symptoms, see a clinician rather than relying on this quiz.
