This Privacy Policy describes how SYRNIK LTD (“we,” “us,” “our”) handles information in connection with the Brim iOS application (“App”). By downloading or using the App, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
Who We Are
Brim is published by SYRNIK LTD, a company incorporated in England and Wales (company number 17257080), with its registered office at 66 Paul Street, London, England, EC2A 4NA.
Data We Collect — and Where It Lives
On-device data (never leaves your phone): All hydration logs, beverage choices, profile inputs (body weight, activity level, climate), goals, and app preferences are stored exclusively on your device using Apple SwiftData. This data is not transmitted to our servers and is not accessible to us.
Widgets: Brim's Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets read the same on-device data through an Apple App Group container (group.ltd.syrnik.brim). This data sharing occurs entirely within your device and never leaves it.
Purchase receipts and entitlement status: When you purchase a subscription or lifetime licence, the transaction is processed entirely by Apple. We use RevenueCat (a subscription-management service) to verify entitlement status. RevenueCat receives an anonymous, device-generated identifier — it does not receive your name, Apple ID, email address, or any information that identifies you personally. We do not see or store your payment details at any point.
Paywall UI: Superwall powers the in-app paywall screen. It uses the same anonymous, device-generated identifier as RevenueCat. No personal information is shared with Superwall.
Usage analytics: We use PostHog (hosted in the EU) to collect anonymous usage events — for example, which screens are visited or which features are used. Events are not linked to your identity. We do not use session replay, autocapture, advertising identifiers, or cross-app or cross-website tracking. The App does not present the iOS App Tracking Transparency prompt because it does not track you.
Support communications: If you contact us by email, we receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address and the contents of your message.
Data We Do Not Collect
- No name, email address, or Apple ID
- No location data
- No camera, microphone, or contacts access
- No advertising identifier (IDFA)
- No cross-app or cross-website tracking
- No data sold to or shared with third parties for marketing purposes
Notifications
Hydration reminders are scheduled locally on your device using iOS UserNotifications. No push notification server is involved and no data is transmitted to us when a reminder fires.
How We Use Information
The anonymous analytics data we collect is used solely to understand how the App is used in aggregate — for example, to identify features that are confusing or unused — so we can improve the App. Support emails are used only to respond to your enquiry.
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than operating and improving the App.
Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR / UK GDPR)
- Legitimate interests — operating, securing, and improving the App using aggregate, anonymous analytics.
- Contract performance — verifying subscription entitlements to deliver the features you have paid for.
- Legal compliance — retaining records as required by applicable law.
Third-Party Services
The App integrates the following third-party services, each of which operates under its own privacy policy:
- Apple — payment processing (App Store), in-app-purchase receipts, and iOS system services.
- RevenueCat — subscription management and entitlement verification (anonymous identifier only).
- Superwall — paywall UI delivery (anonymous identifier only).
- PostHog (EU) — anonymous usage analytics.
We do not share personal data with any other third parties. We do not sell data.
Your Rights
Because all hydration data is stored on your device, you are always in full control. Deleting the App removes all on-device data permanently. You may also delete the App's data at any time via iOS Settings.
Purchase history is held by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy; we cannot access or delete it on your behalf. You can manage your Apple data at privacy.apple.com.
Residents of the EEA, UK, and other jurisdictions with applicable data-protection laws may have additional rights, including the right to access, correct, or request erasure of personal data we hold. To exercise any such right, or for any privacy enquiry, contact us at the email below.
International Data Transfers
Our third-party service providers (RevenueCat, Superwall, PostHog) may process data in countries other than your own. PostHog is hosted in the EU. Where transfers occur, appropriate safeguards under applicable data-protection law are in place. No hydration or profile data is transferred internationally because it is never transmitted from your device.
Security
Keeping your hydration data on your own device is the strongest practical safeguard — it never travels over a network. For the limited data that passes through third-party services (anonymous analytics and entitlement checks), we rely on those services' security measures and use reasonable technical and organisational controls on our side. No electronic system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Children
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Data Retention
On-device data is retained until you delete it or uninstall the App. Anonymous analytics events are retained per PostHog's default retention schedule. Support emails are kept only as long as necessary to resolve your enquiry, or as required by law.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the App evolves. Changes will be posted at this URL with a revised effective date. For material changes we will take reasonable steps to notify you (for example, via an in-app notice).
